March 18,,2016 - Nigeria
Indeed 1st of February 2016 was a day filled with joy in Sts Callistus Caravario and Louis Versiglia Community Ibadan as she celebrated the feast of St. John Bosco with the students and staff of Don Bosco Institute of Philosophy. The celebration started with the Eucharistic celebration presided over by Rev. Fr. Stephen Omoniyi SDB and co-celebrated with other religious and diocesan priests. In his homily, during the Mass, Fr. Stephen, stated to the congregation that, “what we are celebrating today is the spirituality Don Bosco left behind, which he contented hinged in the preventive system which has its pillars as reason, religion and loving-kindness.” He, therefore, urged the congregation to emulate and embrace this spirituality, which he says has given birth to so many saints and holy people in the church. Present during the mass were the staff members, students, lay people and many religious sisters.
Shortly after the mass, the celebration continued at the youth center hall. Highlights during the hall moments were songs to Don Bosco, presentations on Don Bosco and merriment. The Dean of studies, and also the vice rector of the community, Rev. Fr. Dr. Edwin George SDB, expressed his gratitude to all that came to grace the occasion.
In his closing remark, the rector of the community, Rev. Fr. Riccardo Castellino SDB, posited that we all have been affected by St. John Bosco in one way or the other and prayed God to help all of us especially the Salesians to continue the mission He has entrusted to St.John Bosco.
