Don Bosco Childline: from 116 to 323

The importance of the Childline operated by Don Bosco Fambul cannot be underestimated. With little over 250 calls weekly, this department is faced with the huge challenge of providing the social- pedagogic counselling service by highly motivated and trained social workers.
The change in digit has in no means altered the work of the de- partment. What is of importance is the provision of service the Childline continues to render to these vulnerable groups. An strategic plan has been drawn up to popularise the new number during the month of November.
As at present, radio jingles, bill boards, postals and handbills have been prepared with the new harmonized toll free line 323 ready to hit nationwide robustly through various media outlets. There will be a significant increase in the numerical strength of calls countrywide once those lines are popularised. One may be tempted to ask what necessitated the transition? It is not unconnected with the positive impact the Childline played during the registration of thousands of Ebola children and Survivors during the dreadful outbreak of the epidemic at quarantine homes. Congrats to all the staff for this new step forward!
