Assistance to Youth at Risk
The latest ILO (International Labour Organization) global estimates on child labour indicate that Africa has the largest number of child labor; 59 million children between the ages of 5 and 17 are involved with hazardous work. More than one in 5 children in Africa are employed against their will in stone quarries, farms, and mines. Poverty remains the major reason behind this issue.
The Salesians of Don Bosco Anglophone West Africa provides care and assistance to poor and needy children at risk; especially children who find themselves in the following situation:
- Children who find themselves on the street, outside the classroom/academic environtment.
- Children abused in child labour.
- Children denied health care, food and nutrition.
